Dental Insurance Check Payments

Both Aetna Dental and Delta Dental have proposed changes with respect to the issuance of insurance payments by check. The DC Dental Society believes that dentists who accept insurance should have choice in the method by which you receive payment, and you should not be forced to accept payment by a method that costs you money, such as virtual credit cards. Details on those changes are provided below.

Help DCDS opposed these changes by registering your concern with the Commissioner of the District of Columbia’s Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking, Karima Woods. The ADA developed two model letters that you can use to communicate your opposition.

The DC Council has the potential to take legislative action to provide relief. For that reason, we encourage you to copy the chair and director of the DC Council Committee on Health, Councilmember Christina Henderson and Ms. Ona Balkus, respectively.
