In 2008, CMS proposed that the ADA take the lead in establishing an organization to develop performance measures for oral health care.

The Coalition for Modernizing Dental Licensure was created to address long-standing concerns with the dental licensure process.

The ADA signed a coalition letter requesting consideration for programs vital to dentistry and oral health in FY 2025 appropriations.
