Topic: “Managing Dental Trauma/Root Canal Treatments and Failures"
Instructor: Dr. Prashant Verma
Managing dental trauma, especially in children, can be a challenge for clinicians. Lack of proper and prompt care may result in serious long-term complications.
- Introduce resources for patients and clinicians that can be used to guide care immediately after an injury.
- Describe evidence-based guidelines for specific diagnosis and treatment of traumatic dental injuries.
- Present clinical cases that illustrate real-world decision-making criteria used for successful management of such situations.
Dentists routinely encounter treatment planning scenarios involving teeth with failed root canal treatments. They have to decide whether to attempt to retain the natural tooth through revision (non-surgical or surgical) of the prior treatment, or to extract and replace with an implant.
- Discuss the factors that can lead to failure of root canal treatments.
- Present evidence-based comparative outcomes for each treatment option.
- Present a series of clinical cases illustrating successful management of such compromised teeth.
