  • DC Dental Society Opposes BL21-0415 Universal Paid Leave Act of 2015

    The 460 members of the District of Columbia Dental Society (DCDS) oppose BL21-0415 the current proposal for Universal Paid Leave Act of 2015. We have member dentists practicing in all 8 wards of our city. Not only do these practices provide needed health care to the residents of our city, but they are a source of economic support for their employees and the businesses in their surrounding neighborhoods.

  • Universal Paid Leave Act - Legislative Action Request

    The proposed act would provide 8 weeks paid leave for family care such as a sick child or parent, and 11 weeks paid parental leave. The wage replacement rate will be 90% for the lowest paid workers (earning below 150% of the minimum wage). For everyone else, the benefit is capped at $1,000 per week. The benefits will be funded entirely by a new 0.62% payroll tax on employers.

    October 3, 2016 – Notices have been sent out to dentists to inform ​them that the District of Columbia Prescription Drug Monitoring Program has officially opened registration as of September 22, 2016. Data request shall begin on October 19, 2016.

    August 18, 2016 – The next DC Dental Society monthly meeting will feature a presentation by Dr. Stephen Wilson titled "Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office" on Tuesday, September 13th at the Westin Georgetown. Regular, complimentary CE programming is a benefit that we offer to our members.
